CODES & STANDARDS COMMITTEE
1. Mission & Objectives
To propose and implement the ELA strategy regarding European codes & standards, taking the intercontinental environment into consideration.
To promote the adoption of European regulations aiming at harmonizing requirements for lifts, escalators, moving walks and other similar lifting equipments, and to improve the interface with their environment.
To defend and promote the positions of the lift & escalator industry to the European institutions and other organizations dealing with lifts, escalators & moving walks.
To act as a steering group to develop coherence of legislations and regulations at all levels, with all member associations of ELA.
To prepare working papers and work on drafts of standards for the European institutions & CEN/CENELEC.
To work on drafts of standards to be adopted by national standardization bodies (CEN enquiry, Formal vote).
To contribute to the harmonization of national regulations which impact lift design and functioning.
To speed up implementation of standards & European directives at national level.
